Sept. 18 wine tasting set at Warwick Museum

The Warwick Museum of Art will hold its Fifth Annual Wine Tasting / Beer Sampling Evening Friday, Sept. 18th from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Warwick Museum of Art. Discover fine wine and fine art, great beer, hors d'oeuvres and benefit raffle! Call the Warwick Museum of Art at 401-737-0010 or order your tickets through the WMOA website: www.warwickmuseum.org. Tickets are $25 per person or $50 per couple. There, the Savory Grape Wine Shop will provide expert wine and beer consultation by Newport Storm Beers. All proceeds to benefit the WMOA 2009-2010 Season. This event is limited to the first 85 patrons and sells out quickly, so order your tickets early. Local non-profits are feeling the pinch in these tough economic times. The WMOA has tightened its belt and is committed to continue to bring quality arts education and exhibitions to Warwick. But we can’t do this alone. The WMOA relies on the generosity of its patrons, grants, private donations and fundraisers throughout the year. The multi-media art exhibition “Out of a Theme” presented by the Artists Creation Group will be on display during this event. It features the art of thirteen local artists, many of whom will be in attendance. Please join us for an engaging evening of fine wine, fine art and conversation, all which benefits the Warwick Museum of Art programming year 2009-20010. As Warwick's largest non-profit arts organization and the area's cultural center since 1976, the Warwick Museum of Art continues to provide a performance and exhibition space for the most talented artists, writers and performers in Rhode Island and is host of a wide array of cultural and artistic activities including comedy, theater, music, poetry and literature as well as monthly visual arts exhibitions.

Yard sale to benefit EBC Center

The staff at the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center invites our readers to come spend a morning hunting for treasure while benefiting the center during a giant yard sale. Slated for next Saturday, September 12, at 8 a.m., the yard sale will be at Nationwide Self Storage, 1185 Tiogue Ave. (Route 3) in Coventry. Got stuff to sell? You can also display your own treasures by reserving a table. The cost is $10 and assures you a busy location which will surely draw many customers. If you wish to donate items to the yard sale, you can drop them at Nationwide Self Storage beginning Sept. 7. This event is sponsored by Steve Mederios, an EBCC board member and his sister Kathy Lescault. If you wish to volunteer, call Kathy at 401-822-1900 or email her at nationwidestorage@yahoo.com. EBCC serves families affected by interpersonal violence and provides education and support for all of central Rhode Island.
