RIbt holiday performance free for Alice and Clara

Rhode Island ballet theatre's holiday performance, Alice Meets the Nutcracker will open Dec. 6 at East Greenwich High School at 3 p.m. The holiday performance is geared toward younger audiences, with excerpts from the Nutcracker and a storybook ballet about Alice in Wonderland. "We're offering free tickets to all the 'Alices' and 'Claras' out there," said artistic director Nancy McAuliffe. “We've offered this kind of promotion before and find patrons respond well and enjoy making it a special day for the namesakes." The company’s goal is to help promising dancers reach their potential through a training program of weekly classes and master classes with professional evaluation and feedback, learning experiences with ballet companies and ongoing performance opportunities. RIbt trains at the Rhode Island Ballet Arts Academy, at 7728 Post Rd., North Kingstown. Admission is through auditions held twice a year. Call 847-5301 for more information or visit www.riballet.org. Tickets for the rest of the audience are $15 and $25 and can be bought in advance by calling 847-5301 or purchased at the door.
