The third annual Rhode Island College Goal Sunday will be held this Sunday at 1p.m. at six locations in the state.

College Goal Sunday is a statewide charitable program that provides free information and assistance to families applying for college financial aid. At College Goal Sunday, financial aid professionals assist college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is required for any student seeking federal financial aid, including grants and loans at educational institutions nationwide. It is also the form Rhode Island residents complete to determine eligibility for RI State Grant Programs.

Many students and parents spend countless hours struggling to figure out if they qualify for financial aid programs, and many more filling out forms that can be both complicated and confusing. For many high school students, lack of information about how to pay for college has discouraged them from applying. It's critical that students and families gain access to the information and resources needed to help them explore educational opportunities.

Sessions will be held at the following locations:

Central Fall High School, 24 Summer Street

CCRI – Lincoln Flanagan Campus, 1762 Louisquinesset Pike

CCRI – Newport County Campus, One John H. Chafee Boulevard

CCRI – Liston Campus, One Hilton Street, Providence

West Warwick High School, Webster Knight Drive

Woonsocket High School, 777 Cass Avenue

Financial aid professionals will be available to provide hands-on assistance, offering line-by-line explanation of the FAFSA as well as guidance on the financial aid process and application deadlines.

For additional information and to pre-register for the event, visit www.collegegoalri.org. College Goal Sunday Rhode Island is sponsored by the Rhode Island Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (RIASFAA) and Lumina Foundation for Education.
