Cranston volunteer receives presidential recognition

A life’s work was celebrated at Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday. The work of Cranstonian Shirley Mazzetta, who received the hospital’s Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.

This award is reserved for volunteers who have donated more than 4,000 hours of their time. Shirley has donated over 7,000 hours (7,631 hours to date) at the hospital.

She is now 80 years young and still volunteers about 12 hours per week, performing many roles over the years. She has served as greeter, provided tours and training, helps around the office, and rounds the hospital with the employee snack cart.
