National team invites public comments on police department

The Johnston Police Department is pleased to announce it is currently undergoing an assessment process by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), as part of its commitment to professional excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in law enforcement services.

CALEA is a nationally recognized organization that establishes best practices and professional standards for public safety agencies. Accreditation through CALEA ensures that the department is in compliance with up-to-date policies and procedures that align with the highest standards in law enforcement, according to a press release from the department.

As part of the accreditation process, CALEA invites public comments to ensure the department is responsive to community needs and expectations. Members of the public, including residents, community organizations, and other stakeholders, are encouraged to provide feedback on the department’s performance and services.

People wishing to offer written comments about the Johnston Police Department’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to write to: CALEA, 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainsville, Virginia, 20155.

All feedback will be reviewed by CALEA as part of the assessment process. Comments should address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards, public comments, commendations, and other information regarding the Johnston Police Department’s quality of service or other information relevant to the accreditation process.
