The No. 4 Toll Gate girls volleyball team hosted No. 5 Woonsocket last week in the Division IV quarterfinals and would sweep the visiting Villa Novans to advance to the semis.
Mary McNulty racked up 17 kills while Savannah Lozowski recorded seven kills. Kyleigh Letellier had a strong day on defense, notching double-digit digs.
The Titans hit the road to take on top-seeded Central on Wednesday evening, but the results were not available at press time.

FOOTBALL
Portsmouth 24, Hendricken 21
The Hawks dropped their season finale to the visiting Patriots last Friday, marking their first loss to a Rhode Island public school since 2013 when Barrington got a 7-0 win. The Pats would get a walk-off field goal to earn the Division I victory.
Hendricken scored first when quarterback Dylan Lynch connected with Will Mascena for a score, but Portsmouth responded by scoring three straight touchdowns to make it 21-7 deep in the third quarter. Jeremy Seidi rushed for a touchdown to help the Hawks stop the bleeding, and Lynch then scrambled for a touchdown in the fourth to tie things up.
Despite the loss, Hendricken held on to the top seed in the upcoming playoffs and will be hosting Cumberland next Friday night.

Ponaganset 40, Pilgrim 14
The host Chieftains rolled past Pilgrim in the regular season finale last week. Quarterback Carter Clifton connected with Hunter Schobel in the first half and Dylan Rodrigues in the second, but Ponaganset’s offense surged all night. Ponaganset took a 20-8 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Pilgrim enters the Division III playoffs with the second seed and will be hosting No. 7 Johnston in the opening round this Friday night. The two teams squared off in a recent battle with the Pats taking home a double-overtime win.

BOYS SOCCER
Hendricken 4, Barrington 0
The top-seeded Hawks took care of business by shutting out Barrington in the Division I quarters last week. The win sets the Hawks up for a semifinal meeting against Cumberland, who handed them a 1-0 defeat in the regular season.

North Providence 1, Pilgrim 0
The Pats saw their season come to a close when the Cougars earned a shut out win in the opening round of the Division III playoffs.
Keeper Chris Williams finished the day with 10 saves in net for the Pats.
