At Hoxie Elementary School on Election Day, hopefuls for an array of city and state offices posted their hopes. From left, advocates promote the candidacies of Leah Hazelwood, a Democrat who challenged incumbent independent Mayor Frank Picozzi; James McElroy, a Democratic outgoing Ward 4 councilman who lost a bid for the House District 21 seat claimed by Republican Marie Hopkins; Sean Wiggins, the top vote-getter in a field of four seeking two citywide seats on the Warwick School Committee; and Peter Appollonio Jr., seeking a return to the Senate District 29 seat and facing a requested recount from his opponent, Anthony DeLuca, Warwick’s sole incumbent Republican.
