Spirit Week goes undercover

Posted

Were those teachers with blazers, suit jacket and sunglasses last week at the Nicholas A. Ferri Middle School or were they Secret Service agents?

Since it was Friday, and it had been an unusual week, students had a pretty good idea that it was all part of “Stealth Spirit Week,” which the middle school faculty had been having fun with.

“It’s something that became popular on Tik Tok so we thought why not try it here,” said Katelynn Tewksbury, Culture & Climate Coordinator at the school.  Throughout the week, teachers wore costumes or unusual attire, without ever announcing that it was spirit week, she said.   One day they all wore hats; another day they dressed up as their favorite holiday.

Students were a little perplexed at first, but since nothing stays secret for long in the Internet, it didn’t take long for them to learn about ‘undercover’ school spirit week and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tewksbury said the school works hard to build camaraderie and school spirit, and undercover spirit week was a success.  From left to right are staff members Paula Ranucci, Tewksbury and Marie Contildes.
