The Johnston Senior Center Holiday Bazaar

The Johnston Senior Center will hold its Second Annual Holiday Bazaar on Sat., Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come see Santa, Mrs. Claus, and over 20 plus crafters. Presents for all the kids and make your own holiday ornament.

St. Joseph Church Annual Candy Cane Bazaar 

St. Joseph Church, 144 Danielson Pike, N. Scituate, will hold its Annual Candy Cane Bazaar Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Handmade crafts, baking mixes, soaps and oils, books, handmade jewelry, baked goods, jams and jellies, locally made honey, a huge penny social, baskets for raffle, a giant all cash prize raffle with prizes totaling $10,000.00.  Also, a This and That room and the kitchen will be open both days.

The Sojourner House Annual Masquerade Ball

The Sojourner House will hold its Annual Masquerade Ball on Fri., Nov. 22, at 7 p.m., at the Graduate Hotel, Grand Ballroom, 11 Dorrance St., Providence.  Enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and more. Turkey Walk — Thanksgiving Weekend on the Greenway

Start your Thanksgiving weekend off with something special — a laid-back Turkey Walk along Johnston’s Greenway on Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Perfect for all ages, this holiday stroll brings friends, family, and nature enthusiasts together for a peaceful walk with a view. Led by 15 Minute Field Trips, this event is all about taking in Johnston’s riverside beauty and kicking back with the community in the spirit of the season.

PSA Free Gun Locks at Cranston Public Library

Secure storage of weapons is now the law in Rhode Island.  A Free Gun Lock and Securing Weapons Safely information is available at the Reference Desk at the Central Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Rd., Cranston.  Stop by for a free gun lock and literature on how to securely store weapons.  Doing so will save lives and make our communities safer.  Residents from all RI communities are welcome. This event is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Cranston Public Library.

Help OSDRI restock their pantry!

Operation Stand Down Rhode Island needs your help. Their food pantry needs a major restocking. See a list of needed nonperishable items in the photo.

Like many people, OSDRI’s clients have been faced with some real obstacles these past couple of years. With your help, they pledge to always be there to give a hand up for veterans and their families in need.

Items can be dropped off Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at OSDRI’s main office, 1010 Hartford Ave., Johnston. If you have any questions or would like more information, call the OSDRI office at 401-383-4730.

Soul of ‘71 Scholarship Fund

The Johnston High School Class of 1971 established The Soul of 1971 Scholarship at The Rhode Island Foundation.  The current balance is $27, 035.92. The class has already awarded three scholarships to JHS seniors.  The Class of ‘71 is the first class in the history of the Johnston School System to establish a scholarship fund which will last forever.  For additional information, contact Harold J.
