Mia Marcello had information and treats (cheese cubes) to give a taste of Wisconsin. She also donned a red and white cheerleading outfit to represent the University of Wisconsin.

Aydyn Hudick made sure he was well versed in all things New York for his project. We’re not sure if it was intentional, but he looks a lot like actor Tom Cruise in his flight jumpsuit – and yes, the “Maverick” actor does hail from the Empire state.

A grass skirt and lei made it clear that Milana Scarcella had invested a lot of time learning about Hawaii and was embracing her state’s tropical climate and cultural warmth.

A suede Anorak and a stuffed bear showed that Mia Mercier had done her homework on Alaska, the 49th state. Like the other students she had put together a display with key facts about the state.

Students at St. Rocco School made geography fun recently when they picked states to learn about and brought them to life with story boards, maps, props, and costumes. Their work not only gave them a chance to learn as much as possible about their adopted states, but also a chance to be creative.

The fourth graders, who are in Lisa Ciuncci’s class, put their presentations on display in the school cafeteria last week and were ready to answer questions.
