The real question is if one wants to be a "marksman" or a target. It's egregiously obvious that "gun-free zones" are killing people and trained, qualified, certified volunteers who are discreetly armed will make most shooters reconsider schools as a target if there's a possibility that they will be stopped.

Cowards choose "soft targets" that don't shoot back -it's true of street crime and it's true of mass shooters.
