Local contractor pleads no contest in payment case

Posted

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin has announced the conviction of a Johnston flooring contractor who violated a Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training (RIDLT) order to pay more than $1,400 in unpaid wages to a former employee.

John J. Hoegen, 34, with a last known address of 21 Maple Ave. in Johnston, pleaded nolo contendere on Oct. 24 to failing to pay the employee, Victor Mercado, for hours worked in August 2013.

Had the case proceeded to trial, the state was prepared to prove that Hoegen, owner of United Flooring Contractors LLC, failed to pay his employee for hours he worked in August 2013.

Excellent news! To anyone who thinks they may be a victim of Jay Hoegen's scams, the message from our fine Attorney General is clear: Not in this state without justice!

John "Jay" Hoegen has a storied history of swindling consumers and leaving employees & subcontractors unpaid.

He is currently working with a woman named Alicia Hanosky, who also has convictions and pending cases for similar crimes.

I recommend visiting these two blogs for additional information. Look closely at his photos to see if you recognize him.

If you know John's current address, please post it so others can contact the authorities and get what is owed.
