Orchestra scores silent movie at Avon

Richard Dulgarian is a true movie fan. He stands in the lobby of his Avon Cinema and discusses the films with his patrons as they leave the theatre.

“You have got to come Thursday night [January 18 at 7 p.m.],” he told us. “This orchestra and film are unbelievable.”

Dulgarian was referring to the Berklee Silent Film Orchestra, which will be providing its original music for the 1925 Russian silent film, “Battleship Potemkin” at the Avon.

“This is their first time in Rhode Island,” he said. “And I hope it won’t be their last.”

The evening will begin with two short films, followed by the Russian classic. The 10-member orchestra is from the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston.
